Our History
For over 70 years, Max Construction Company has been a proud family-owned business dedicated to quality craftsmanship, operational excellence, and lasting client relationships. The company was founded in 1956 by William I. Maxwell. In 1995, the company was incorporated, and William’s son, David J. Maxwell, became President and owner. Under David’s leadership, Max Construction experienced significant growth while earning a reputation for quality, integrity, and exceptional client service.
Continuing the family tradition, David’s daughter, Melissa Kawai, joined the company in 2010 and serves as Vice President. Today, David provides executive leadership and strategic direction while Melissa leads the company’s operations. Together, they have developed an experienced management team and a strong operational foundation that enables Max Construction to consistently deliver efficient scheduling, value engineering, and quality results. Their leadership has positioned the company to grow to more than $80 million in annual construction revenue while maintaining the personalized service and family values on which the company was built.

Safety remains a top priority across all Max Construction projects. Project managers and field superintendents maintain OSHA, First Aid/CPR, and Forklift certifications and emphasize proactive communication, coordination, and accountability throughout every phase of construction.
